Key Responsibilities & Duties

As an Event Security Officer, your role is multifaceted and critical to the success of any event. Your primary duties will include:

• Crowd Management & Control: Professionally managing the flow of attendees, preventing overcrowding, and ensuring orderly entry and exit from venues across Dundee, such as the Waterfront or Dundee Ice Arena.
• Access Control & Screening: Operating entry points, checking tickets and credentials, and conducting bag searches using designated equipment in line with venue security protocols.
• Patrol & Vigilance: Conducting regular patrols of the event perimeter and internal areas to deter and detect suspicious activity, theft, or safety hazards.
• Incident Response & Reporting: Responding swiftly and calmly to any incidents, disturbances, or medical emergencies. Providing clear, concise radio communication to the control room and completing detailed incident reports.
• Customer Service: Providing a visible, approachable, and professional security presence. Offering assistance and direction to patrons, resolving minor queries, and representing both the client and Recruiting Today positively.
• Liaison with Emergency Services: Working collaboratively with police, ambulance, and fire services when required, facilitating their access and providing situational updates.
• Asset Protection: Ensuring the security of client property, equipment, and cash-handling areas before, during, and after events.

What We're Looking For: Essential Requirements

To be successful in these Event Security roles, candidates must meet the following criteria. We value professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic.

• A valid, in-date SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence is mandatory for most positions. We can advise on training for the right candidate.
• Proven experience in a security role, ideally within an event, crowd management, or customer-facing environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and assertive under pressure.
• Strong observational skills and a high level of vigilance and personal integrity.
• Physical fitness and the ability to stand for long periods, walk extensive distances, and work in all weather conditions for outdoor events.
• Flexibility to work unsocial hours, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and overnight shifts as required by the event schedule.
• A full, clean UK driving licence and own transport is advantageous for events in surrounding areas like Perth or St Andrews.
