Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
- •Providing direct support to tradespersons (bricklayers, carpenters, plasterers) by preparing materials, mixing mortar/cement, and handling tools.
- •Site preparation and clearance, including digging trenches, levelling ground, and removing debris safely and efficiently.
- •Operating and maintaining non-plant machinery such as cement mixers, cut-off saws, and powered hand tools, following manufacturer and site guidelines.
- •Loading, unloading, transporting, and storing construction materials around the site using appropriate manual handling techniques.
- •Strict adherence to all site Health & Safety regulations, including wearing correct PPE, participating in daily tool-box talks, and maintaining a clean, hazard-free workspace.
- •Assisting with setting up and dismantling site facilities, temporary works, and safety fencing as directed by the site supervisor.
- •Reading and interpreting basic construction drawings and instructions to accurately carry out tasks.
What We're Looking For (Requirements)
- •Proven, recent experience (minimum 12 months) as a Skilled Labourer within the UK construction or civil engineering industry.
- •Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is essential for most sites. A CPCS or NPORS card for plant operation is a significant advantage.
- •Excellent understanding of onsite health, safety, and welfare procedures. A keen eye for hazard identification is crucial.
- •Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual handling tasks throughout an 8-10 hour shift in all weather conditions.

Pay Structure for Skilled Labourers in Birmingham B26
Standard Rate
£13 - £15 p/h
For labourers with valid CSCS and 1-2 years experience.
Enhanced Rate
£15 - £18 p/h
For experienced labourers with additional tickets (CPCS, NPORS, SSSTS).
Overtime & Weekends
1.5x / 2x
Enhanced pay rates for overtime and weekend work as per client agreement.
