Core Duties & Day-to-Day Activities
Your primary focus will be on stock accuracy and supporting efficient warehouse flow. A typical shift might involve:
- Conducting scheduled cycle counts and full stock takes using handheld RFID scanners and warehouse management system (WMS) terminals.
- Investigating and reconciling discrepancies between physical stock and system records, reporting findings to the Shift Supervisor.
- Labelling, tagging, and organising incoming goods in designated locations following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
- Assisting with the coordination of dispatches by ensuring pick lists are accurate and all items are accounted for before loading.

Key Responsibilities
Stock Control & Accuracy
Perform regular and ad-hoc stock counts, update inventory databases in real-time, and ensure a variance rate of less than 0.5%. This precision is as vital here as it is for an Office Assistant managing stationery supplies or a Pharmacy Assistant handling medication stock.
Data Entry & Reporting

Goods Inwards/Outwards Support
Verify quantities and qualities of incoming deliveries against purchase orders. Assist with the checking and loading of outbound orders, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate for drivers, including HGV Drivers collecting consignments.

Proactively identify root causes of inventory discrepancies, such as mis-picks, receiving errors, or system faults, and recommend process improvements to the management team.
Essential Skills & Requirements
Must-Have Experience
- Minimum 6 months experience in a stock control, warehouse, or Inventory Clerk role.
- Proven ability to use inventory software or WMS and handheld scanners.
- High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of health and safety in a warehouse environment.
