Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

As a Forklift Driver / Operator in Blackburn, your day-to-day tasks will be varied and essential to warehouse throughput. You will be expected to:

• Safely operate counterbalance, reach, or pallet trucks to load, unload, move, and stack goods within the warehouse or yard environment, adhering strictly to site safety protocols (SSoW) at all times.
• Conduct pre-use checks on your assigned equipment at the start of every shift, reporting any faults or damage immediately to the shift supervisor or line manager.
• Work from pick lists and dispatch notes to accurately select products for orders, ensuring the correct items, quantities, and labelling are prepared for the next stage of the logistics process.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised workspace, including racking aisles and loading bays, to prevent accidents and ensure efficient workflow for all colleagues, including Warehouse Operatives.
• Work collaboratively within a team, communicating effectively with colleagues on the ground and office-based staff like Virtual Assistants or Executive Assistants who may be coordinating schedules, to ensure seamless operations.
• Handle goods with care, especially when dealing with fragile, high-value, or temperature-sensitive items, following any special handling instructions provided.
• Accurately complete digital or paper-based documentation related to stock movements, such as scanning items into the WMS (Warehouse Management System) or signing off delivery notes.
• Assist with periodic stock checks and inventory counts, providing your operational insight to help maintain accurate stock records.

Essential Requirements & What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role and secure an immediate start in Blackburn BB1, you will need to demonstrate the following:

• A valid, in-date Forklift Licence (Counterbalance & Reach) is essential. Certificates from accredited providers (RTITB, ITSSAR, NPORS) are all recognised.
• Proven experience as a Forklift Driver / Operator in a fast-paced environment such as a warehouse, distribution centre, or manufacturing plant.
• A unwavering commitment to health and safety. You must understand the importance of risk assessments, safe systems of work, and wearing appropriate PPE.
• Physical fitness and stamina, as the role involves some manual handling, getting on and off the truck frequently, and working full shifts.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills for reading instructions, labels, and completing paperwork accurately.
• A positive, can-do attitude and reliability. Punctuality and good attendance are critical for temporary-to-permanent conversion opportunities.
• The right to work in the UK, and you must be willing to undergo a standard DBS check if required for specific client sites.
