Key Responsibilities & Daily Tasks
- Order Picking & Preparation: Accurately pick products from warehouse locations using handheld scanners (RF guns) based on dispatch manifests. Prepare orders for shipment by checking quantities, quality, and packaging.
- Loading & Unloading: Safely and efficiently load/unload delivery vehicles using manual handling techniques and equipment like pump trucks. Ensure goods are secured correctly to prevent transit damage.
- Dispatch Coordination: Work closely with the transport office and drivers to coordinate outbound loads. Update tracking systems in real-time and ensure all paperwork (delivery notes, manifests) is complete and accurate.
- Stock Control & Replenishment: Assist with stock takes, cycle counts, and the replenishment of picking faces. Report any discrepancies or low stock levels to the shift supervisor promptly.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment in line with company policy and UK HSE regulations. Operate all equipment safely and wear provided PPE at all times.
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Proven Experience: At least 6 months of recent experience in a similar dispatch, warehouse, or logistics operative role. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanning is highly advantageous.
- Physical Fitness & Mobility: The role involves manual handling, prolonged standing, walking, and lifting (adhering to safe weight limits). You must be physically capable of performing these duties in a busy environment.
- Attention to Detail & Numeracy: A high level of accuracy is required for order picking and documentation. Strong basic numeracy skills for counting and checking stock are essential.
